Many of the children supported by the Richard House team are non-verbal, visually impaired and/or deaf children which can make play challenging. With our specialist therapist and musical equipment we can help each child, no matter their condition.

The therapy sessions help children with complex health issues to play and socialise and enables families to meet others facing similar circumstances. Our music therapist  devises many different activities such as song-writing, reflection, relaxation, pain management, making music videos and games.

Music therapy has been shown to improve communication and give children an opportunity to express themselves in a non-verbal way. It can also be used to manage pain and to relax a child who may be anxious about their illness and/or their environment.
