At Richard House we offer a rewarding and enriching learning experience for 2nd and 3rd year students as well students on their final sign off placement.

Our Hospice is an optimum learning environment for students seeking to learn and enhance their knowledge and skills in tracheostomy care, home parental nutrition (TPN), symptom management, palliative care, oncology care in the community and  non-invasive and long term ventilation to name but a few.

All students will have the opportunity to be mentored or co mentored by our Practice Development Facilitator who will work with staff to support and supervise learning as well as offer protected time to teach in the training suite.

All students will work at least 40% of their shifts with their mentors and will receive their rotas prior to placement.

We work closely with a wide range of teams including Children’s Palliative Care Teams, Diana Team, Oncology, PN, Gastro and Respiratory CNSs within the NHS and community settings and students on placement will have the opportunity to have an understanding on how our nurse led team works closely other teams in the field of pediatrics as well as spend time with the different professionals we work with within the Hospice and beyond!
