Richard House Children’s Hospice is based in one of the most diverse, continuously changing communities in the UK.  It is vital that we are continually reaching out to these communities in east London, to increase awareness of Richard House and to raise funds.  Using their knowledge of the community combined with training received from Richard House, our Community Ambassadors play a vital role in representing the charity at local events and functions, speaking about our work and the importance of the funds our supporters raise.

What skills do we need?

You will be a confident public speaker with excellent communication skills and a personable and friendly manner.  You will be able to use your own initiative and work unsupervised, as well as being able to deal with emotional and difficult subjects.  Ideally, you will have a passion for working with local communities in a culturally diverse environment, and be willing to travel around the region for Ambassador tasks.  If you have knowledge of any of the languages spoken by the local communities in east London or connections with local groups and organisations, this is beneficial, but not essential.

How much time will it take?

The time commitment is flexible.  Ideally you will volunteer with us for a minimum period of 6 months and have the flexibility to be available during evenings and weekends as required.

Location

The locations of events will vary, but mainly take place in East London.  There will also be time spent at Richard House Children’s Hospice, E16 3RG.

What are the benefits?

You will have the opportunity to develop your presentation, networking and communication skills.  You will also gain experience working in a local community with a diverse range of people and learn about working in the charity sector and fundraising.

Safeguarding

Richard House is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.  Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
