Our gardens are one of the focal points of Richard House and an area which our children and families can really enjoy spending time in.  We are looking for volunteer Gardeners to help maintain the gardens and outside areas.  You will be involved in:

  • Tidying the grounds
  • Planting new flowers
  • Cutting back, weeding and clearing
  • Keeping the garden paths accessible

What skills do we need?

We are looking for people who are reliable, able to organise and prioritise their own workload and maintain a safe working environment.  Gardening knowledge is useful, but not essential if you are confident to maintain an area of the gardens.  Naturally the work is physical and takes place outside so you need to be comfortable with this.  As our Gardeners work around the hospice grounds you will also be friendly and able to communicate with our families and team.

How much time will it take?

This is a flexible opportunity – we just ask for a regular commitment.

Location

Richard House Children’s Hospice, E16 3RG.

What are the benefits?

You will be making a real difference to the lives of life-limited children and their families by creating and maintaining an environment for them to enjoy.  You will be spending time outside in nature, and gardening is a great way to keep fit and active.  You will also have the opportunity to meet new people and be part of the Richard House team.

Safeguarding

Richard House is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.  Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
